This year I’m trying my best to keep the amount of stuff I have down and have the amount of money I have increase. It’s pretty simple, the less crap you buy the more money you have. I’m 20 years old and I have no savings, no emergency fund, no nothing. So, in my quest to become a more responsible human in 2019 I’ve curated a list of things I’m going to stop buying into so frequently.
#1: FAST FASHION
I have never really been on-trend when it comes to fashion, but I still find myself buying pieces that I know are only going to last a few months. I’ve been going for more of a capsule wardrobe approach lately when I’ve been clothes shopping, and this has worked so well for me because it just means I can shove anything together and it looks alright. Revolutionary.
#2: COFFEE SHOPS
Coffee was never my thing until I became a student. Now, I drink gallons of the stuff. The only problem is that I have never made my own coffee, I’m forever buying it from Starbucks or Costa which is absolutely killing my bank balance. I’ve decided that this year I’m going to start making my own coffee at home and taking it into university.
#3: SUBSCRIPTION EMAILS
These things are the devil but for some reason, I always sign up in the hopes that I’ll get a super good deal or get the down low on a sale, but this just means I’m spending more money than I should be on stuff I don’t need. This is the story of my life. I’ve been through my inbox and unsubscribed to all the email lists that are trying to bleed me dry.
#4: NEEDING DUPLICATE ITEMS
With the way I buy beauty products, you would think that the world was coming to an end and my job in the Apocalypse would be selling people skin cream. I am forever buying more than I need and it’s a big problem. It seems like a good idea at the time, but it never is. I have about six hand creams which I doubt I’ll use anytime soon because I forget to use the one that’s already open in my bag.
#5: FAST FOOD
As much as I love cooking, I am lazy and impatient so if I can just shove my food in the microwave for two minutes or have someone else cook it for me, I take full advantage. I don’t even want to say out loud how much money I’ve spent on fast food this year because it’s horrible. In 2019, I’m saving fast food for special occasions and I’m going to start learning how to make some new recipes!
Thank you so much for reading. I’m loving Bloguary so far and I hope you are too. Is there anything you’re going to stop spending so much on this year? See you tomorrow for a new post. Have a lovely day and stay beautiful.
