My favourite month of the year has finally rolled around and I could not be happier. It feels like ages since the last November even though 2019 has literally flown by. I love November for a number of reasons, the main one being that it’s my birth month! It’s also Scorpio szn which has me thriving at the moment. Another reason is that it’s getting darker earlier and it’s getting chillier and while I know most people hate this time of year, it’s my favourite. I love lighting my candles and getting cosy.
So, obviously, I just love this month. In general, I prefer the last three months of the year and the first three months of the year. My favourite time of year has me feeling all kinds of positive energy so I’m putting it to use this month. Here a few of my intentions for November.
1. Saving for a house
I’ve already mentioned on my blog and social media that my boyfriend and I are saving up for a house. As someone who has a bit of rocky relationship with money, this hasn’t been the easiest adjustment to make. I’m really enjoying seeing the amount of money rise as I save more and more! My ultimate goal is £10,000 in the H2B ISA and £5000 in our savings pot for furniture and decorating.
I’ve followed a few different budget bloggers and Instagrammers, here are a few of my favourites: Becky Taylor, lottiebudgets and stressplanningtrish. These lovely ladies all have really inspiring and informational content that has really helped me on my saving journey!
2. Start treating my blog as a business
A photo of Grace Beverley seems a little out of place BUT Grace is such an inspiration of mine. She graduated just this year from Oxford and already has three amazing brands under her belt. She’s just so inspiring and she has such ambition and drive. I’ve put her on my mood board because I really want to start treating my blog as my business and using the kinda hustle that Grace has to turn my blog into what I’d love it to become. She just really motivates me in so many different ways.
My plan to achieve this is to spend my Friday off university as a day dedicated to blogging. This will give me a break from university and will also give me more than enough time to sort out everything that needs sorting. I’ve gone through my diary and found that I do have time to spend all of my Friday’s doing this so it should work out.
3. Read more books
Reading is one of my favourite ways to wind down after a day of university and it’s something I’ve loved doing since I was a kid. With all the uni reading I do I can sometimes find it hard to read for pleasure but I’m using it to wind down before bed. I’ve recently been reading The Tattooist of Auschwitz which I’m super close to finishing and the next on my list is a book that I’ve been gifted to review so I’m super excited to read that!
My plan is to read for at least 30 minutes before I go to sleep which will not only relax me but it’ll also make sure I’ve not got my phone in my face before bed which is no good for me. Reading is a huge part of self-care for me and I always feel loads better when I have my nose in a book. If you have any recs (especially true-crime) please let me know!
4. Cook from home more
I absolutely cooking but I’m just too lazy to cook most the time. I’ve been pinning loads of easy recipes to try which has got me so motivated to get in the kitchen again! Cooking is one of the things that I tell myself I have ‘no time for’ which is just a load of crap really. I have Sunday afternoon to prep for Monday. Tuesday and Thursday are evenings I have completely free. I don’t do much on the weekend, so where do I not have the time??? It’s just a lie I tell myself to excuse the fact that I’d rather order food in but it’s detrimental to my health and bank account so I need to make a change.
My plan to cook more from home is to just do it, I need to stop making excuses when I have all the time to cook and I have most the stuff in any way. I’m also going to ban myself from ordering food in except for the last Friday of the month. Takeaways are no longer a treat like they should be, they’re kind of just part of my life so I really need to try and make it feel special again.
5. Get a proper sleep schedule in place
As I mentioned in number three, my sleep schedule is pretty much non-existent at the moment. I go to sleep at a stupid time in the morning then wake up about 7ish and have a nap around three so it’s all a big cycle of staying awake when I should be asleep and being asleep when I should be awake doing things. Pretty much a recipe for disaster.
My lil’ plan to do this is to be really strict with myself and actually ban myself from havings naps (unless I’m feeling super down or poorly, yknow, self-care). I’ve also got some herbal sleeping tablets which should get me into a routine nicely.
6. Keep up with university work and dissertation.
I’m doing quite well with keeping on track with my uni work so far which is impressive because usually by this time of the semester I’ve skived a few times and am about two lectures behind. I’ve promised myself that in my last year I wouldn’t have time off unless it was to see Liam and so far I’ve stuck to it! I really can’t afford to miss anything important.
I also need to get a groove on with my dissertation planning as my first lecture for it is this week and I am beyond nervous!! I have a few topics in mind but nothing really set in stone so I need to start playing around with ideas and seeing what I want to do. My plan for this is simple, I need to attend my lectures, keep up to date with work and start thinking about dissertations.
7. Get out in nature more
I love a good walk in nature and this time of year is my favourite so I really want to start going on some walks. I have my Apple Watch now so I’m dedicated to closing all of my rings daily! I have some really nice areas near me that I could walk through so I all I’d really need to do is wrap up warm and I’d be good to go.
Walking is really therapeutic for me and it’s where I clear my busy little head out so it’s super beneficial to my mental health so why I don’t do it more makes literally no sense to me. So, my plan for this is to, of course, get out there and walk around.
8. Get my blog organised for 2020
So, 2020 is fast approaching and it’s the year that I really want my blog to take off so I need to get my booty into gear quickly. I have a few different exciting things coming in the new year that I’m going to keep hush hush for now but it’s going to require me being super organised.
My plan for this is to hustle as hard as I can when I can. I mentioned in goal number 2 that I’ve already chosen my day to focus on my blog so that’s already done. I just need to be 100% planned about a month in advance in order to feel comfortable because I’m a planning freak. Watch this space folks.
